Happy Father's Day!

Dad then (I'll let you guess the year) :)

Dad now:

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

I Know

To quote Craig Ferguson ( @craigyferg ) on Twitter, 'I know'!

I've decided to go on the wagon (insert post title here - get it? :) ). A couple of things. I keep buying and kitting up and starting but not finishing. Sound familiar? So, starting 7/1/10 no more shopping with a couple of exceptions: any designer going out of business or retiring designs is fair game. However I can only buy the charts/kits but no new supplies (fabric, thread)for them. The exception to that is that if I have something even 75% kitted up I can buy the rest of the thread for that design, just not the fabric. (I already have to have the fabric on hand).

The reason? They have decided to eliminate my department at work due to 'business needs'. They're giving us the option of moving up to a non-union position (remember the job I hated where I got yelled at all day long? Yeah, that one.) Or to take a pay cut and move back to customer service. I'll only lose @ $1.75 an hour, and I still will make more than a lot of people who have degrees, but still. If I took the other job I'd just have to eat up the raise with anti-anxiety medication.

In the next couple of weeks I'm going to take pictures of all my WIPs and post them and hopefully start working on them again!

Oh, and my very last splurge (I'll post a pic of that one later). ;)

Finally an Update - Started 5/7/10

This is actually a re-start. Started on 28ct, decided that was too big and re-started on 32 ct white Jobelan stitch one over one and love it. This is approximately three days of work.

Just a reminder - here's a link to what it will look like when finished. http://heavenandearthdesigns.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&zenid=1f441f90357ad16435e93a326cbc0023&keyword=turandot

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!

No New Years' Resolutions except one, well, maybe two.

1. 2010 will be 100% better that 2009 (at least for the economy)

and

2. I am going to stitch more this year and actually finish something!

Hope everyone stays safe tonight and let's see what next year brings.

Star Wars Christmas Special

Thought you all might enjoy!

What are you reading on Monday?

I haven't stitched since October! Sad, very sad. Also, I think Twitter has replaced this blog - instant gratification and all that. But sometimes you need more than 140 characters for self expression.

I have no excuse except that the stitching mojo hasn't been with me. The new glasses weren't that great so I have to reorder and that might help; I have been doing other things, like book SALs, or would that be RALs (read-a-longs)? Like this one: (yes I can see to read perfectly but I have to take off the glasses - does that make any sense?) Geez.

http://j-kaye-book-blog.blogspot.com/2009/03/new-weekly-event.html

I'm reading: Grave Secret - Harris; Three Musketeers - Dumas, and should be starting a Spenser novel shortly - Now and Then.

We've been busy at work (really busy!) and even though I switched back to nights (getting off at 930 - no more midnights for me!) I get barely any time between calls. I am getting new glasses this month - so next year will be a stitchy year.

Yankees Make it to the Series!

Now you know what's been going on here for the past few weeks. Screaming at the tv (it's a wonder my neighbors haven't called the police) and loving it!

From Tommy Lasorda (at tonight's game):

I had playoff tickets for a minute until the Angels knocked us out:

So - root for the Yankees if you're watching! (but I'll forgive you if you're a Phillies fan).

I Finished My Taxes!

I hope everyone was sitting down! :)

Just in case.....

...you ever wondered why I'm such a slow stitcher.......

They're right a picture is worth a thousand words. ;)

PIF and Progress

The best news is that Edgar's PIF arrived last week and I love it - how could I not? The package included a Caramel Tea, a sachet and a lovely pinkeep. Here's a link to Edgar's picture (he takes much better pictures than I do).

As for progress, here's Blackbird Designs Blessings and Kind Wishes:

That's it for now - hope you all had a wonderful 4th!

Projects lined up

This is the (loosely) planned plan for the rest of the year.

Mary Wigham

a TW (still haven't decided which one) but I'm leaning towards In A Garden. (mostly whole stitches I think).

The Marquoir GardenAlice and Co (a 56??? part freebie) I'm going to do mine in either blues and greens or purples and greens.

Crabby All Year (lots of catching up to do on that one! and yes Sharon, I found it!)

Little House Neighborhood

and

Cirque.

New glasses next week so I really have no excuse! The final word from the eye doctor - magnifiers don't harm your vision and you can use them as long as you want to. Yay!

And Karan - I'll get your package in the mail this week too - I'm a terrible (should that be excellent?) procrastinator.

I'll have pictures of Edgar's PIF which arrived yesterday later on. Thanks Edgar - it's great!

Mary Wigham

Yes I have jumped onto this bandwagon with both feet, and especially after seeing this WIP. I finally have my stitching mojo back, I think.

This year I have a feeling is going to be a year for baps. I love the smalls and might sneak some in, but I feel TW calling me for some reason.

Got the idea for my colors from this post; isn't it gorgeous?

Mary Wigham WIP

And here's my floss toss - it's PTP Earthen and DMC 610, 612, and 613. Remember this is 32 ct and I'm going to stitch it over one, so this should keep me entertained for quite a while. ;)

And as for my other WIPs; I've been organizing things and I have no idea where Crabby All Year is. Don't worry, it's here somewhere but where?

A Quick Head's Up

The Sampler Girl is having a great Blogaversary giveaway - $50 worth of Sampler Girl charts.

And the winner is.............

Karan!

Please send me your email and snail mail address and I'll get this out to you asap.

How I did it: I imported all the names to a spreadsheet and went to random.org which picked #22 which was Karan.

Don't worry - we have lots more giveaways coming up - I had a run on buying dupes for some reason. ;)

Please also remember that these giveaways are only open to followers!

Just a Drive-by.....

She's offering a free SAL AND a free chart check it out here: http://needleprint.blogspot.com/ .

The SAL starts Monday.

And no, I haven't forgotten about the drawing - we'll do that tomorrow as well. Don't forget to follow as it is only open to followers.

Hope you're having a great weekend!

I'm Back!

After a bout of cleaning I can't find my current WIP so here's one I pulled out to work on instead:

Birds of a Feather Counting Magpies

A few things have been going on while I've been gone the most important being the truck finally died the good death (burned up in the parking lot at home no less - can't get luckier than that) but wait, that's not the best part. Dad had left his Town and Country with me to drive while they went to Florida for a few months; told him about the truck and he said, get this 'why don't you just keep the minivan and register it in Texas?' Am I a spoiled brat or what? Love you Dad (and not just for that).

What else....work is going well, we're just taking mostly internal calls now so maybe I won't have to spend a fortune on the chiropractor....the Yankees are losing and the Rangers are in first place.....did the rangers sell their souls to the devils instead of the Yanks (Damn Yankees - an old, old, old musical).

Danny better NOT get voted off tonight and we lost TY from DWTS. And I haven't forgotten we still have a drawing to do - don't forget to follow!

I haven't forgotten.....

.....to post or about the giveaway - I've been on vacation. :) For the giveaway don't forget to follow - I'm not taking signups but will draw from my follower list. Does that make sense? ;)

More later!

Giveaway

Since it's almost baseball season - officially April 5th but at Rangers Stadium April 6th (and it's my day off so I can go if I can get a ticket tomorrow) I'm having a giveaway to celebrate. Don't worry, the charts aren't baseball charts or anything. ;) It appears that I had a few senior moments last year and ordered *cough* a few duplicates. So, I'll be offering them up here starting April 6th and continuing until the World Series in October. This will be open to my followers only and yes you can still follow througout the year and be eligible. Just a hint of what's to come:

http://www.123stitch.com/cgi-perl/itemdetail.pl?item=01-2325This will be the first one offered up.
